    Another question about the poly

I have another question about the poly... When they do the test, do they only ask you the questions that appear in the pre-employment polygraph booklet, or will they ask you questions from both the poly booklet and the personal history questionnaire. Again, Im applying for the lvmpd, so if anyone else is from vegas, your input/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

They will tell you EXACTLY what questions they will ask before they hook you up and ask you

As I recall from an employment polygraph for clearance, they gave me a list of every relevant question they would ask. They wanted me to point out any questions I would consider ambiguous and would reword it based on my answer prior to the screen. They want your answers to the question to be the whole truth and the question shouldn't be the source of ambiguity. There were calibration questions that I did not get to review.

Thanks for the reply. I assumed it would be the questions that they have us answer in the polygraph booklet, I just wanted to make sure. Any ideas about how long it takes for them to conduct the poly?

My poly was 100 questions and it took about 2 and a half hours... It all depends I guess. It might be different at different agencies.

Informational-type questions are asked during the pre-test and post-test interviews. The only questions you will get during the polygraph exam itself are "yes" or "no" questions.

Other than the irrelevant questions, the questions during the test itself will usually be of the following type: "Other than what you've told me, have you ever stolen anything from an employer?"

Who the hell was that with, the FBI? That's ridiculous. Even with crooks, we limited the relevant questions to about 5.

When my brother was an Army company commander, there was an incident in Germany where one of the tanks in his company caught fire and the soldiers inside died. He was sent to the Pentagon and put on a polygraph. They started a long rambling interview trying to use the box as a hammer. After about 10 minutes, he ripped off the sensors and told them to go have sex with themselves.

Two months later, he was promoted to major.....
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine
