Good evening everyone! I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum, but this is just a simple question. I was wondering if having a Class A misdemeanor will automatically disqualify me from ever becoming a police officer? My charge was Possession of a prohibited weapon (knife longer then 5 inches). I was 17 years old and am now 26. It was dropped from a felony to the class A misdemeanor with Deferred Adjudication. I was placed on 2 years of Probation, which was completed with no problem. by the way, I'm living in Texas. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and stay safe!!

While what you've posted is most likely not an AUTO-DQ, - they will look into the circumstances further. If there's more there, it may end up as an eventual DQ depending on the totality of the circumstances.
