    Background check question

Hello all I applied at the Raleigh Police Department around Thanksgiving this year and passed my P.T., Polygraph, and initial interview. I recieved a call from Raleigh last week stating that a detective had been assigned to do my background along with 6 other guys. Im just struggling to get excited because I don't want to get let down. Does this sound like I am closing in on being accepted into the academy? Thank you for help.

Don't get excited just yet. Save the victory dance for after you get an actual start date.

Do you know how many spots there are to fill? Regardless, you can at least be happy you made it this far. Also, at this point, it's out of your hands. You can prepare for your interview, testing and any other phase of the process but it's too late to change your background.

    Good luck.

Based upon this statement alone (underlined), there's going to be a large majority of people on board who will tell you that your chances of passing a background investigation or slim to none. ;)

    Angry

I just asked around my department after I read your comment piggy. The consensus seems to believe that If I am a hard worker, and have what it takes then the state I live in should not be relevant in whether I get the job or not.

Off topic, but since East Lansing was mentioned (and my ex who I met in Athens, GA graduated from MSU), I only have the following to say:

IT'S A MEAN MACHINE THAT'S RED AND BLACK!
AIN'T NOTHING FINER IN THE LAND,
THAN A DRUNK OBNOXIOUS GEORGIA FAN!
    GO DAWGS!!!
    GO DAWGS!!!
    GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DAWGS, SIC EM'
    WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF!!!!!!!!!!!

    Glory, glory to ole Georgia,
    Glory, glory, to ole Georgia,
    Glory, glory, to ole Georgia,
    AND TO H*LL WITH MSU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If You Don't Knowshon, then you don't knows**t.

End of rant. ;) Best of luck with Raleigh!!! You'll have to catch a Hurricanes game!
"You're abrasive, an idiot, a liar, a liberal and fool. I'd call that fairly accurate. Wait a minute. I think I could have just called you a Liberal and that would have included all the others ..." ro56 @ realpolice, 2006.

It does if half the state you are in is currently unemployed ;)

MSU fan will still come up in your background, but not hurt you nearly as much as being a Michigan fan. We'd hate to unleash the fury of University of Toledo and Appalachian State again.
