    Finding Expunged Cases...

I've had some things expunged in the past and now I need some specific information concerning those incidents. They do not show up when I do a background check on myself through State and Federal CJIS. How do I get this information?

I have to divulge expungements during the application process and I don't want to guess. It could look bad if I'm wrong about some of the details. Any ideas?

I'm in Maryland if that helps. Thanks.

Do your best to answer the best you can. If you were arrested for a charge, you have to be told at the arraignment, or you at least should have a vague idea of what you did.

There should be some kind of room for comments if you're filling out a form. If not, submit a letter with the form and explain the circumstances. Explain that you could not recall specific dates and give all the details you can remember.

When you say THINGS were expunged do you mean multiple charges from one incident or do you mean multiple incidents? The second will hurt more.

All were misdemeanors but it's going to hurt no matter what. I would like to find them myself and be 100 percent specific on all the details. It would look much better than "guesstamating" everything.

Your right it is going to hurt especially several misdemeanors. Good luck but have a backup plan.

I'm not worried. This department isn't in Mayberry.

Well you should be worried because if its any job worth working you will be up against alot of candidates who have not been arrested EVER let alone multiple times. If your not worried you dont want the job enough.

"If your not worried you dont want the job enough."

Don't make hasty insinuations from a few read sentences on an internet forum. You know nothing about me.

The applicant pool isn't full of squeaky clean "Barney Fifes" where I'm applying. Some departments would rather have street savvy officers on foot patrol in the most dangerous cities in America.

It's funny that someone spouting such ignorant statements would suggest another not insinuate things. Perhaps you should take your own advice (and stop watching so much television to get your facts).

You are a FOOL for saying such things. Your little "Mayberry" and "Barney Fifes" comments make you look like an idiot. Your insinuation that you know better than real cops who have been there and done that only confirms it.

Don't act like you know your *** from a hole in the ground when you are still a wannabe. Don't assume that there are not several who have done (or are doing) the big city thing are reading and responding to your ignorant responses.

FWIW, no applicant pool is full of squeaky-clean applicants. You probably just want to ignore (for your own peace of mind) the fact that it's the "squeaky clean" applicants that actually get hired.

If it makes you sleep better at night thinking that narc groups want guys who have experience in drugs, sweet dreams little wannabe... you'll be the most well-rested rejected applicant on the block! Rather, you should have the mindset of trying to overcome your indiscretions and trying to get hired DESPITE THEM. They are not badges of honor for getting into LE and it outright stupid to portray them as such.

Settle down there Andy. Aunt Bee wouldn't approve of your tone. I happen to personally know a few officers on a particular force that have worse records than my own. So save your "Retired Sherrif John Bernel" Highway Patrol attitude for someone who wants to hear it. A bunch of straight cry babies on this site. I was unaware that this site was full of State Troopers and Highway Patrol guys that think they are perfect.

I love this site :p...I keep scrolling down waiting for someone to tell it like it is.

So you know some officers that have MORE THAN several misdemeanors on their records?? What do they have, one or two felonies? That is some pretty serious stuff. I wouldnt be so confident if I were you. Actually, I wouldnt be confident at all unless you have some GOOD in your life, because with several misdemeanors, all you have is bad. Regardless, keep us updated on your application process...if you get anywhere with it.
