For the people who have taken the CVSA

What questions do they ask during the CVSA?

Are they related to your background packet questions?

Are they related to the questions that you have answered a yes to in the BG such as drug use or civil hearings and such?

    Or are the questions standardized?

I am aware that it will be a yes or no, but I am curious to what sort of questions are actually asked.

    TIA

I have taken one CVSA test and I can't compare it to any other department or place since it has, so far, been my only experience with it. Being that some LEOs don't like people discussing oral board questions or specific things about some confidential stuff, I'm gonna keep this vague.

I was asked a series of questions regarding my background, application, crimes committed, drugs taken, etc. It SHOULD have been only a few minutes, but the machine wasn't booting up. After I was administered the test, I was notified right then and there if I passed (which I did).

    Bottom line: BE HONEST.

    ...and good luck!
Wiggum: Put out an APB on a Uosdwis R. Dewoh. Uh, better start with Greektown.
Friday: That's "Homer J. Simpson", Chief. You're reading it upside down.
Wiggum: Uh, cancel that APB. But, uh, bring back some of them, uh, gyros.
Friday: Uh, Chief? You're talking into your wallet.

I've taken both the CVSA during my hiring process for Ga Tech, and a polygraph when I went through the hiring process for Cobb 911.

I passed both, but I was more comfortable taking the polygraph. Though, I guess that's because my grandfather swore by them (as a Detective he used to give them for the City of Pittsburgh and as a private side job for companies).

Both had similar questions and different questions. My CVSA had more questions than the polygraph, but seemed to go by a lot faster in my opinion.

Just be honest. If there's anything on your record that might be "bad", disclose it. If you tell them, and they set you up and pay to have you take all the tests, you don't have anything to hide and you'll be ok. If you don't have anything to hide, then just relax and get it over with.

Funny story, and Mods should delete this if it reveals too much:

One of my questions was: Have you ever solicited for sex? Well, of course I have, I'm a male, and you don't know my ex-girlfriend. What do you call buying dinners, gifts, constant hounding on my part...

The investigator got a laugh out of that and conceeded that they should add "Illegal" to the question...:D
"You're abrasive, an idiot, a liar, a liberal and fool. I'd call that fairly accurate. Wait a minute. I think I could have just called you a Liberal and that would have included all the others ..." ro56 @ realpolice, 2006.

Just relax man, don't try to control your voice at all.

JUST RELAX and be calm. you'll do fine if you are not stressing during the test.

Its is meant to pick up minute variations in tonal frequency of your voice to detect a "LIE"

    hence voice "STRESS" analysis lol

Ill say again quit posting threads about it, just take the test. You do more harm than good if you are worrying about not passing, or the machine messing up on you and giving false positives.

Just go in like your talking normal to a person.

Actually, neither the Computerized Voice Stress Analysis nor the polygraph detects "lies."

These machines, along with a trained human ear and knowledge of statement analysis, detect "anxiety."

Anxiety is a strong indicator of "deception" but this requires exploration through competent interview. Anxiety may not be an accurate indicator of a "lie."

Nothing beats good old fashioned competent interview techniques and boots on the ground background work.

Uh oh, I've been nothing but anxious since I filled out my application! :D At least I know I'll be consistent
