    Personal History Packet question

Hi I have a question about the personal history packet that I have to fill out. Where it says to list the name(s) and phone number(s) of co-workers from your work history, what if you do not have that information? Now that I know this is highly important information, I have been able to get most contact information but to come up with that information for every single job I've held is hard.

    Stew,
I can only speak for the past experiences that I have had while filling out the BG packets. I would suggest getting maybe 7 co-workers and their phone numbers. If you do not have 7, shoot for 5. If you do not have 5, list at least 3. What they are simply looking for are references.

Any LEO: Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but my experinces are that the investigators are simply looking for a few references, rather than every co-worker that you have ever worked with.

Each department has their own standards for background packets. If you have a specific question regarding a specific department the only way to be sure is to CALL THE DEPT.

This may sound obvious, but I just put their work phone numbers on most of mine. I actually still have friends I used to work with at almost every job I've ever had, but even then, most people don't like getting calls at home about work related stuff, so I only gave out the work number anyway except for a couple who work outside (no phone access) and I knew wouldn't mind. This is probably a lot easier if you've always lived in the same community though, and works better if you had jobs with a lot of stable employees. If you have a few where you KNOW no one who knows you works there anymore, and you were never friendly enough to call any of them at home, I'd call the dept. and ask.
    Always we begin again.

In my situation, every job that I have worked at in the last 10 years except my current one has gone out of business. The first was family owned and the owner retired and sold the store, the second was CompUSA which just went bankrupt and closed down, and the third was a tech center that outsourced and closed down.

I had to do some digging to locate contacts. A few I had on Myspace, so that was fairly easy to get ahold of and get concent from former coworkers there. Two supervisors from CompUSA, I had to track down via internet and and via the application that was given to my current employer. Luckily for me, it was on file and had 2 usuable references. I of course called the references myself to ensure that I had their permission to use them as such however.

Just dig in a bit. I still need a couple more references but overall, the information is probably just a little effort from being recovered.
