    App question

    I apologize if this particular question has been asked but a quick search didn't quite yield a good answer for me so;

    I am currently preparing a mock application downloaded from an actual DFW department and in the personal background section it asked "have you, or your spouse, ever been involved in any court action, civil or criminal?".

    I have never been in any court action at all. However, my wife was arrested in her teen years (well before I knew her) for lying to a police officer. She was involved in an auto accident where her boyfriend was driving her car and she was afraid her father would be mad that she let him drive so she told the officer on scene that she was driving. When he spoke to the other driver involved the other driver confirmed that it was my wife driving and she admitted it to the officer who then cited her and she ended up spending the day in holding and had several hrs of community service and a fine.

    That was about 13 years ago and before she met me. Is that something that I still need to put on the application? I feel I probably should but she doesn't think so. What do yall think? And thanks in advance for any replies.

    now man, i want you to think.......look at the question and answer it? HAVE YOU OR YOUR SPOUSE, EVER (EVER IS THE KEY!!!!!!!!!!!). what you guys as applicants fail to realize is most of the questions arent there to hurt you, they are there to see if youll tell the truth!! A cop may sometimes now always like the answers they have to give on the stand or in court, but if its the truth then your integrity is intact and that my friend is the basis of a good cop

    lax854, that is exactly what I told her. It stated "ever" so to me that means....ever. I would much rather have it on there and have to explain it than to omit it and have to explain it. Even if it was well before we met, it still happened so it will go into the application. Thanks!

    At the risk of causing a domestic dispute, put it on there. The instructions are very clear.

    Think of it this way. If you make it to the polygraph portion of the testing and they ask you if you have omitted or have provided false information on your application, what is your answer? Either way you will be disqualified for admitting to intentionally leaving something out or failing the polygraph.
    Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"
