Background checks when applying in diff. State

I'm a Michigander, looking to become a LEO in Tennessee.

Just curious on how the background check works, do they fly out for a weekend to check you out? Just do extensive background check from what they can do at the department?

I'm not sure you're going to get a straight answer about investigative techniques on an open forum. Suffice it to say that the check will be just as thorough as if you were a local.

I am a cop out here on the left coast in CA. I grew up in Philly. My background took longer than usual because it took longer to conduct the entire, thorough background investigation. I don't know how they got it done, but I know they were as thorough as anyone else's.
