Body Size Matter Much?

Hey all,

I was wondering, how much does ones body size really matter when getting the job as LEO? I'm about 6' 155 lbs and trying to gain. That sounds pretty weak, but I can do more push ups than most people larger than me. I can run faster than most. I box and can take a hit.

I've heard departments looks for "porportioned" people, is there truth to that?

As long as you can pass the physical agility test and defensive tactics in the academy, you'll be fine.

That sounds far more marketable in the LE world than 5'05" and 270#.

check dept. websites. sfpd REQUIRES you to be height/weight proportionate (according to thier charts). as long as you can pass all the tests, you're probably ok.

I think with my dept you would be right about the minium weight to get on for your height. I doubt you will find any problems as long as you make the chart.

Most would prefer you be on the lighter side when you come on anyway. With a lot of people, the weight comes on with age anyway.:(

Good advice. check the minimums. If you are fit and you sound like you are, should be no problemo. my academy class has guys built like you...me 6'2" 220 up to the 245 range but sub six foot (hint hint) so as long as you can hack it, your good.
