You'll want to be more specific on your choice of drug so the experienced guys here can give you some info. Also let us know how recent this happened.

    Okay,

First of all, it would be nice to introduce yourself in the RAP SHEETS section.

What exactly is the "illegal substance" you speak of.

Finally, I am a proud 8 year veteran of the armed forces, and veteran of two wars, let me say, I never understood why certain ***-necks decided after serving honorably (I am [I]assuming[I] the rest of your career, pre and post drug use are spotless), and coming home heroes, they are going to ruin the rest of their adult lives by screwing around with drugs. You are an adult, the decision is not a mistake, and you make the rest of the veterans that do not make those decisions look bad.

If I come off a little harsh, well, I'm sorry, but too bad so sad. That is just the way it is. I know the army does not condone drug use. Why on earth would you decide to do something so stupid? I have never used alcohol to justify a stupid decision I have made. Believe me, I have been VERY drunk, to the point of passing out and having to be carried home from the e-club with a friend at each arm and leg, but I have NEVER decided to use drugs as a result of being drunk.

Okay, rant over, certain things just piss me off.

If the "illegal substance" was marijuana and it was more than three years ago, it probably will not hurt you. If the "illegal substance" was anything other than marijuana, you'll probably be disqualified.

You Got IT! i have talked to numerous police officers and police candidates, everyone has tried marijuana, well let me rephrase that, MOST everybody has tried marijuana, i just took my BI where i told them i did marijuana, i explained the circumstances for the 3 times that i did try it and, guess what, they let me through to the next step, but from what i hear anything other than MJ, YOUR Screwed....

Because you are hesitant to post it here, I gather the 'illegal substance' was other than marijuana.

Are you afraid of the answers you may receive if you post the actual drug?

Why can't people be specific on an anonymous website where nobody actually knows who you are?

    "White substance..."

Considering that marijuana is not a "white substance," you're probably disqualified forever.
