    Do I have a chance?

Graduated w/ a bachelors degree back in 2006. 25 years old right now.

-Used marijuana about four times in my life. one time being in August of 2006. other 3 being while in college, probably 2004-2005, i dont remember.

    - They ask how many times I've driven drunk. I am not sure, but I was never caught. Is that an automatic DQ if I confess to any ? I've definitely done it a few times.

    - They ask how many times per year you get drunk. Hell, I'm not sure, usually 2-3 times per month. Is that bad ? I go to bars often b/c I'm a single guy. Is that a dq ?

    - no traffic violations, no criminal history of any kind.

Well i am in the same position as you for 2 out of the 3 departments i applied for. Only difference is i am 22 (well now 23) and i have never driven drunk. They pretty much see drinking that much as immaturity, then again you are older. So no clue how they will precieve you. As for the drinking and driving your going to be hit hard on that one. If it was recent you dont have a shot. If it was a long time ago it will be a uphill battle. Good luck

I am not an officer, but i have been in and out of the LEO process several times, so this is just my opinion from my experience.

What was your degree in? Hopefully not criminal justice, as there really isn't much excuse for using drugs while you're going to school with the intent to eventually enter law enforcement. My agency requires at least three years from the last use of marijuana before you can apply. There are also agencies that prohibit any use of marijuana (even a one-time thing) after age 22 or 23.

The drinking and driving will hurt as well and may lead to a DQ. There's nothing wrong with going to bars often because you're a single guy, but there is something wrong with getting drunk and driving home.

my degree was in finance but i started off as an EMT thinking i wanted to be a doctor only to realize my grades weren't good enough so I moved in to investment banking. Did that for 2 years.

Father was in LE for 30 years and his father was in it for 30 years, and have realized in the past year that my true calling is in serving the public, and I would like to become an officer. Its amazing how important it was for me to get money only to get a very high paying job and realize having money means jack sh#t. I wasn't happy. The greed was due to my immaturity. But yet anyone I know would say that I do have a very high moral character. Had I known I wanted to be an officer, I probably wouldn't have smoked the few instances I had a chance to. Heck I only smoked a few puffs. Truthfully, I have NEVER GOTTEN HIGH.

I've been calculating my BAC's based upon a BAC calculator, and I think if I've ever driven drunk, i was just barely over .08. I can't pin down a time where I think to myself "damn you were really trashed and shouldn't have drank". Although there were a few instances where I think i was pushing it.

I think Clinton used that one, man. I don't know if anyone will buy that.

Ehh i only smoked a couple of times and i know i didnt get high because each time was just a puff... Anyway regardless of getting high or not i would suggest staying away from saying that unless it is asked, or you will just be looked at as your trying to minimize the crime.

"dont' care if u dont believe it. its the truth, and thats what would show up on the poly"

Yes, Maybe you dont care and maybe it is the truth but fact is you will have a BI and they will be thinking the same thing. So, as I said dont minimize what has been done. Admit to your 4 times smoking MJ.. answer the questions that follow and leave it at that.

    Good luck.

Getting drunk 3 times a month is getting drunk almost every week. It might be normal during the college years, which the OP seems to be just out of, but anywhere else in the world that might be considered a problem. I know I'd try and cut back if I were him....

getting drunk 3x a month, not on the job, might not seem like a lot, but add the job and the high amount of stress you'll be dealing with, and that 3x a month, might turn into 3x a week...

First of all an online an online BAC calculator isnt going to tell us you were drunk or not. If you dont believe you were impaired when you were driving home you sound just like every drunk driver Ive pretty much ever locked up.

Be honest with yourself and your BI and let the chips fall where they may.
