Angry Integrity and Application Process (semi-rant)

I would like to preface this post, by saying that I would NEVER consider lying on a police or any job application.

As you can probably tell by my signature, I am getting ready to begin the police application process. Recently, I have been discussing this process with people I know, and I am almost shocked at the number of people who tell me to lie on the application, especially in regards to past injuries and medication. What makes it even more shocking is that these people are either retired police officers or professionals in the medical field. It seems like their line of reasoning is "If you don't tell, they won't find out, but if you do, it is an unnessecary inconvienence." Plus, the implication I seem to be getting from some of the retired officers is that the background check is not as thorough as it is made out to be and that things can be hidden from them.

Like I said earlier, I refuse to follow this advice and tell them that it can be found out, and I am not risking a perm. DQ for lying on the application

yea, a lot of people have told me to lie (who are in the field or use to be) and when i didnt and got put on hold. I got the whole "whats wrong with you, why didnt you listen" I don't understand why they get to get what they want when they lie but im stuck strugglig. O well im only 23 (my bday is today ) and my past isnt horrible, i just keep hitting road blocks such as nypd getting rid of their jan. class after being on hold for paper work in july. Oh well sooner or later i will be where i want to be.. atleast i hope so, but i know i will never lie.
