Yes because New York is the only city in the country having financial problems.

Mayor Bloomberg, who has already cancelled a January police class, said Dec. 9 that the scheduled July class is no longer a certainty as his budget chief sought an additional 7-percent spending cut from all city agencies.

I mean, we're getting killed for these people and they don't even appreciate it. They think it's a big joke.

That means more OT, and the doing away of the overtime cap.

Wha wha WhAAAT? Something I saw on NY1 this morning.

    http://www.ny1.com/content/top_stori...t/Default.aspx

While the state budget is taking center stage this morning, there's word a budget deal may be in the works at City Hall.

Sources tell the Daily News that the deal between Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the City Council would raise property taxes about eight percent, yet keep the $400 property-tax rebate in place.

That rebate has been a point of contention between the mayor, who wants to cancel it because the city cannot afford it, and some council members, who say homeowners deserve the checks they are counting on.

The deal reportedly would also keep in place about half of next month's police academy class, which the NYPD had threatened to delay.

Comptroller Bill Thompson yesterday warned the city could be facing a $1.9 billion budget gap this fiscal year. Bloomberg's original plan projected no deficit this year, with a $1.3 billion gap next year and $5 billion the following year.

It may just be the article was an error because if I recall correctly there was word the July academy if not cut completely would be 500 to 700 recruits. If there is a January academy that would be great news for everyone.

No. This information is NOT an error and IS true. 250 Recruits will be hired in JANUARY and 250 will be hired in JULY 09. The catch is that most will be NYPD Cadets going promotional along with some school safety agents who are also going promtional. SOME will be open competitive candidates. Pays to be a cadet huh? Good Luck getting in anytime soon!

You pretty much just have to sit around and wait Kyle, I called up APD a week ago and they told me my file was closed and to come back in February to open it up and get the ball rolling. My exam #s 7003, and I have done nothing yet in the process. Im shooting for July so I guess I'll have to see what happens.

Though I guess everything at this point is speculation. When I spoke to my investigator last week, they told me that they believed I would be good for the July Academy, and from what they heard there would be at least 900 recruits accepted.
