    Help!

Really glad that I found this website, since I couldn't get a straight answer from anyone I asked. Here's my situation...

I'm attending a university and majoring in Electronics Engineering.
I have one more year of school left to get a bachalor's in Electronics Engineering. Even though my field totally differs from law enforcement (ciminal justice), my mind is going in this direction and I'd like to become an FBI agent or try to get some other federal position in law enforcement.

If you were in my shoes, what would you have done? I really don't want to quit school now and switch my majors since I'm almost done. I feel kind of desperate for some useful info because I don't know who else to ask anymore. Please let me know how could I get started after I graduate. Thank you very much.

    Tom.

i wouldnt change my major now. i'm not completly up to date so i could be wrong, but i dont think it matters what your degree is in to enter the fbi or other fedral agency, so long as you have one. kinda like the military, in order to be an officer, you have to have college, you could have a degree in basketweaving, but it would still earn you the bars after going active. have you contacted the fbi and spoken to anyone? my friends wife is a social worker, she applied to the fbi with a masters in some sort of psycho crap. it didnt stop her. (btw, she didnt join after all) i say go for it if thats what you want to do, i'm sure your degree will come in handy at some point. good luck.
I do what I can do when I can do it.

federal agencies have all types of positions open. you can probably get job with the fbi or cia or somewhere else in the electronic/comp science field. do they have "internet police" that track down hackers or internet pedifiles? or you can get a masters in Criminal justice or something else too.

You will also likely see a recruiter at the next career day on campus. They recruited heavily at SJSU, particularly for Finance, engineering and chemistry majors. A college buddy in Finance, who was also bi-lingual, got snagged by the Secret Service during a job fair. He's got nearly 20 in now and love's it.

    Good luck!
