advice please and thank-you

With my not very impressive background, I am sure I will still (hopefully) get some interviews in the near future, I was wondering what I can do or say to impress the people intervuiewing me. because I know right now I can do the job and I want it bad, any advice would be appreciated, And I know the #1 thing is to be honest and I will, but anything else will be great Ryan C

You must show that you are mature, fit (both physically & mentally) and capable of making quick decisions through a viable thought process. Most of all, be yourself, if you present yourself fraudulently, you're going to penalize yourself & the one's you work with.

Self Diagnostic.
Ask your self why you did it ( I was a kid and was having fun, peer pressure, drunk, whatever)
Would you do it again? (yes, no, probably)
How can you prevent it from happeneing again? (im mature, it wont, prevent?)

Its like a computer. Dont dwell on it, recognize it happened and fix it, and make sure you know it cannot happen again and if it does, you know how to deal with it.
Beating your head about it will not get you in.

I have been going through the process myself lately, and have been through 4 orals. I have asked many officers this same question and the best advice I have heard is to try and stand out as best you can. Keep talking and try to turn the interview into a conversation, not just you sitting there answering questions. At the end of the interview they always ask if their is anything you would like to add. This is your open door to talk yourself up. Sell yourself, and sell hard. I know it is difficult without souding like an idiot, but from what I have heard you don't get any points for being modest. Believe your the best man for the job and tell them why. Hope it helps...
