Help if anyone has time...

Here's my story..Im 27 years old and have family in the police.I decided to try to become a police officer but i have a few issues that i see as bad things.I have tried drugs in the past.I smoked M for a few years and have tried coke in 2000.other than that i havent tried any other drugs.Im currently not doing drugs and working a steady job.When i was younger i was in with the wrong crowd but never was arrested for anything.I have no charges besides parking tickets and a no insurance charge for 2002.Do i have any shot of being hired or am i wasting my time.MY uncle is a retired homicide detective and i will be looking for his help on some issues but i really wanna push forward but i feeling a little discouraged because of things ive done.Can anybody help me with any info.I appreciatte any help and respect your opinions.

Ok, well first off. The cocaine is a major problem in some departments. As with the MJ if it was used past experimintation.

But the major problem I see, is in regards to your sentence structure and grammar. I understand this is a impersonal internet forum. But if you want anyone to help you out and take you seriously, just spend a little more time contructing your post. Sound professional and the animals on here wont tear you limb from limb :D

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that your marijuana usage was a little more than experimental. Add to that trying cocaine and your grammar issues. You should probably consider other career options.

Coke is a no go in MANY department plus with the recent economic downturn, the Le applicant pool will be more crowded with people who have never used coke.

The fact that you admit to smoking marijuana for a few years puts you beyond the classification of experimental use. Based on Arizona State rules, you have no chance unless the hiring authority (ie Chief) puts in for a waiver. You would have to be an incredible candidate for that to occur.

"At least we know that if you do coke you can still become a senator and presidential nominee."

Maybe you should try that option if Law Enforcement doesn't work out for you. In any case, good luck.

Lol wisbith...Good point and great comment.Thanks to everyone who responded.After looking at the whole situation as a whole, I've decided to stick with what I'm doing now.I would lose 40,000 a year switching positions compared to what i make now, Based on what starting salary is and have to go through a long process.Again thanks to everyone who responded.I wish everyone the best.Be safe boys.
