Passed all my tests, last phase question

    Hey all,
New to the forum but not new to the process. I must thank you all for your input into this great site. I've been trying to become a Police Officer for about 5 years now and everytime I get closer to my goal. My question is concerning my backround check. I have already passed the preliminary interview, oral board, psych, and polly. Now they are doing my backround and I'm a little worried. A department in 2003 I applied for I admitted to marijuana usage in 1998. I moved on to the polly and failed. Now in 2008 I reapplied to that department and the other one I mentioned earlier. The second time I did not admit on the app that I did marijuana and was DQ'ed. So on the current department I admitted to it and passed all their tests. Now I'm worried on the backround they will go to the other department and ask why I was DQ'ed, so when they find out it will look like Im telling different things to different departments. Am I screwed?? Or do they not research onto why you were'nt hired at other departments?? Thank you.

If they find out you lied on a previous application no chance in hell. Shame on you for wanting to be a police officer and lying on an application, ESPECIALLY when you told them in a prior application you HAD used marijuana. Tsk tsk tsk.

wow, pretty strong words for someone with very little information on the situation, I'm sure your a great cop. Anyway let me rephrase the question, Are departments allowd to get the reason why you were DQ'ed for other departments?

Maybe this is your first forum, man, but lemme tell ya, one newbie to another. It's generally not good ettiquette, if you will, to insult the local populace.

It's kind of like walking into a new bar and pissing all over the best pool table. While there are several big biker dudes using said table.

That being said, as to your question, it seems common sense to me that they have a pretty good chance of finding out.

There's a word, "diplomacy" that you need to bone up on. Let me give you one meaning: "demonstrating consideration and kindness." I have to agree with Beedub's statement. And again, that said, always remember that honesty is always the only policy. Simply put, there is no other.
