    The wait continues....

I took the psychological test on Aug. 26 for the Kennesaw, GA police Dept., and have not heard back from them yet. I called the Captain at the 3 week point and left a message with him, but did not get a return call. I do not want to call again and come across impatient, but I have almost completed the hiring process and am understandably excited. I would assume that if I failed the psych test, I would have been told by now. Is that a false assumption? Do any of you LEO's with experience in this process have insight that could give me reason to be nervous, or are there other factors going on within the Dept. that could slow the last step down?

not necessarily, they could also not call you if they weren't going to hire you.

I would imagine that if there is no push for rapid hiring, the process could take awhile.

Back in 1985, when I was trying to get on with a new Agency, the process took more than 3 months, and I was already qualified, certified and bonafide.

I am sure there are many members here who can vouch for much longer processing times.

Patience is a key ingredient to any LE position.

    Good luck with Kennesaw!

Having lived in the area since 1998, I'd say run far away. The traffic sucks! I used to dispatch Cobb/Marietta Police and hated when we had to report to Precinct 1 for training at the backup 911 center there. I lived exactly 3 miles from my driveway to the parking lot, and it would always take 40+ minutes in rush hour traffic to make that distance during the school year.

Can't say much about Kennesaw PD. They are very strict when it comes to traffic enforcement, and seem to be good guys for the most part. My dad works with Cobb in that area, so he interacts with them a lot. Like any place, they definitely have their bad apples and oddities though.

I got stopped right in front of Cobb Precinct 1 by a Kennesaw unit one day on my way to work at Cobb Police Headquarters. I was cut off by a car pulling out from Brigade Quartermasters and swirved to avoid being in an accident, though the Officer let me off after seeing that I worked for Cobb. However, he did tell me to "Stop driving like an idiot."

I wasn't going to argue, but that's always bothered me. Just said "yes, sir, thank you", and went about my day.

Either way, good luck and don't sweat it. Cobb County took almost 8 months to complete the hiring process for the dispatch position. I believe it was about the same time frame if not longer when my dad joined their PD back in the day. Kennesaw has less resources so, they probably have their people doing a lot of things besides reviewing candidates for hire. If all goes well, send me a message and let me know how you like it.

Well Roger, when you had to explain the bodies under the house it just took some time to verify that they really did all deserve it.

Sheesh, that's actually a longer process than usual. That, my friend, sounds about as thorough as it gets unless they were backlogged or there were other circumstances.

It was a combination of things between background investigations being held up with an uncooperative ex employer, my detective having a massive caseload in addition and just more political crap lol.
