Do Police Reports Show Up On Background Checks

I'm fairly certain someone filed a false police report on me a little over a year ago claiming that I assaulted them. A Detective called me, and I spoke to him about it, but then I never heard from him again. I have no criminal record, but I was wondering if a background investigator would be able to find out about a police report. Is every police report that is written up, stored in a giant county or state database, that a background investigator can look up?

I'm putting together my PHS and I was going to include this but a friend of mine thinks I shouldn't mention it. Now I'm kind of worried about it. Should I be worried about a police report? I was never charged or convicted of anything. I think it should be okay. It would be worse not to mention it and have them find out. What do you folks think?

There's no giant database, but your BI is going to check with PD's local to where you are. It would be better off for you to admit that you were falsely accused of something rather than have your BI find out that you didn't fully disclose everything.

It'll be found. Just tell them what happened and let the chips fall. It obviously wasn't followed up on by the detective in terms of charges/arrest, and your BI will talk to him about it. Sounds like the detective thought it was false, as you said, and 86ed it.
