    Do I qualify for NYPD?

The NYPD website states the following for been disqualify from joining

    - Any conviction of an offense which is punishable by one or more years imprisonment (felony).
    - Any repeated convictions of an offense which indicate a disrespect for the law, a lack of good moral character or disposition towards violence and disorder.

    My question is...

I would like to apply to join the NYPD, but I am concerned about the following.
In my abstract, it shows several moving violations. That include, like 3 suspended licenses, 2-3 speeding tickets (the last one was 3 years ago).

PS- I got arrest once in Queens, because I had a warrant from 2001 because of an equipment violation (muffler). I did not pay the ticket(I forgot).
I spend a night in jail, saw the judge, she dismissed it and let me go the day.

Other than that, that's pretty much the only thing I have in my record.
I haven't been convicted of stealing or credit card fraud or anything a criminal will do. I don't think I'm a bad guy.
The only bad thing I guess is my driving record.

So is my driving record consider,

    - Any repeated convictions of an offense which indicate a disrespect for the law, a lack of good moral character or disposition towards violence and disorder. ?

    Can I still qualify?

Thanks a lot for the help.

3 suspensions doesn't sound very mature, however you can breathe walk and talk I assume so welcome aboard.

Like 3 would indicate you don't even really know many times your license has been suspended, and they do take that into consideration, but if the last time it was suspended and the last ticket were three years ago, it might not be such a problem. Typically the departments will say how long you have for moving violations, etc. My local SO says:

Valid drivers license for the last year and have no more than two moving violations over the past three years. No DUI convictions for past 5 years. Other driving history will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

Thanks a lot for the feed back, I appreciate you guys taking the time to answer my question. I really do.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just one more question, if you don't mind.

About the polygraph or in general the overall honesty.

I have tried marijuana when I was 18-20. Now I am 28 years old. I only tried it a couple of times for maybe a 1-2 months period. You know how friends are. It didn't really interest me, so I stopped. And that was 10 years ago.

If the question is asked, am I suppose to say "Yes, I have smoked."
Even though it was such a long time ago and It was just to try it out?

    Thanks again for the help.

be honest, and small marijuana use won't be a DQ for NYPD. A couple of times = twice. Was it twice, or was it more than that?

It was twice, and I didn't really like it. I just wanted to try it out. I definitely do not use it. The only thing I do is drink, and that is on an occasion like a birthday or BBQ etc. Nothing out of the ordinary.

God forbid. Sadly, I went through the academy with someone who really didn't speak english. He got abused through the whole academy by instructors and amazingly, he graduated. This job is now a little crappier for having him on it.
