    Chances in AZ?

Was wondering what my chances are in becoming a LEO here in AZ. Be looking at various Departments around the Phoenix area as well as the Arizona Public Safety.

    Could use some help.

40 y/o male, Degree in Loss Prevention and Minor in Police Admin.

Work History = Same Company (transportation related) for the last 13 years.

    Criminal Record = Clean

Drugs (ANY USAGE) = 1-2 times ONLY. It was only a couple of hits off a joint when I was 20. Nothing else and no usage since then.
A: Was in Rehab. in 2003 for Alcohol....Clean ever since.

Tickets = 3. The last was in 2000.

Credit History (and this is where I am concerned) = Several Collections. All from a divorce, of course (gotta love it!!). Anyway, some are paid off. In regards to the ones that are not, I am arguing with them that I actually don't owe them. Also, the ones that I argue with, they keep selling the account over and over, thus, I have to restart the entire process over again.

    Any thoughts?

Nothing stands out as particularly bad with the possible exception of the finances, but you knew that already. The amounts, how recently accrued, and efforts made to repay all factor into how responsible you appear to the hiring agency. Your best bet would be to contact the hiring team for the agencies you are interested in.

My thoughts exactly... That's a degree?

I guess a degree in Underwater Basketweaving isn't very far out of the relm of possibility anymore...

LOL....actually, it was more geared towards prelaw. Most of my classes were in corporate law.

But, you are correct!! It does sound like a cake major like criminal justice!! :p

Thank you for your input.... Contacting the agencies that I am interested in will probably the best route..

DPS is not actively hiring as far as I know. I have a friend in ALEA right now and she has no DPS recruits in her class. Try Phoenix.

If you like beating people up for traffic violations among other things, I think MCSO is hiring :p (Sierra, correct me if I am wrong)
I am on a lot of lists...
