    Plagerism in college

If one is to get caught plagerising in college and is either given a 0% or an F on an assignment, or kicked out of the program, would this be grounds for an automatic DQ from a police department?

My guess is yes, just want your opinion.

I would guess no although academic dishonesty is a very serious issue that happens a lot more than people realize. I had a policing class this semester where my instructor literally failed half of the class for not citing sources in a paper correctly. I am sure that most of these students made honest mistakes and did not intend to be academically dishonest, but that did not matter to her. I do not think that a police departement would DQ you for this unless it was a reoccuring problem or you were expelled from the university.

If it wasn't your fault, then I would speak with the teacher. If he won't listen then go to the Dean.

It happens even more with the Internet. You can get an entire dissertation on the Internet for a cheap price.

Hey, ask Senator Biden how plagerism hurt him in the 88 Presidential campaign.

Did your teacher fail them for plagerism, or just not following instructions, or for not properly citing sources? Most of my professors in college will check at least one source at random to make sure you aren't making it up. They want students to learn to give credit where credit is due.
I would imagine this would be a black mark, but not something that would be an automatic.... depending on the circumstances.

    I passed with flying colors:D

She failed the others for plagerism. We simply had to cite the two authors of the article we were reading when ever we stated an idea that was theirs. She went through all the papers and checked to make sure that any idea that was expressed in the text was cited accordingly. Those who forgot to cite a certain passage failed for palgerism.

BTW, my paper was 2 pages long, 10 point font, and had about 30 citations:mad: She said that was exactly what she was looking for and gave me an A.
