Starting the Dallas Academy!

Tested back in June. No problems with BG, and completed my psych and med screen + exit interview this past weekend! Very excited!

Oh, and i am new by the way!

3 years as a AF security forces member/NREMT (no gates or flightline for this guy) mostly worked in the armory then about 95 percent command and control. Small bases offer more in the way of varied experience but since 3P0 wasnt my primary afsc i didnt have to work as a gate guard or flightline doggie...

Congradulations! You definitely will not get bored very often working in Dallas.

I flunked their oral board a year or two ago, but rode with them four of five times.

I also know a few of their new Reserve officers because their Reserves use the same Academy that I went to. From all I've heard, they're loving it.

a month into the academy and all is well! Got a few tests under my belt running a 87 average. PT is not a problem and looking forward to getting into the meat and potatoes of training. Finally getting out of our "rainbow" suits and into some dickies with our Sam Browne's. The next baby class starts on the 29th so we wont be the youngest anymore.

we lost 5 out of our original class in the first week.

Hang in there, brother!

Some days/weeks are better than others. I remember sitting in the classroom (or getting smoked on the blacktop) on day 1 and thinking "8 months........great."

Tomorrow = 12 remaining weeks. I can't even tell you how stoked I am.

You'll be there too if you stick with it.

started the gun range portion today. pretty cold and windy but we did all right. Jan 15 will be the half way point. TCLEOSE test late Feb.

Its good to see a couple of junior classes behind us. cant wait until the Sr class is us!. we get measured for our DPD uniforms on Friday.

no we dont get off the week of christmas. Just Christmas Day. We will be at the pistol range on monday and tuesday for night firing then class on Wed...but that should be an early dismissal on Christmas Eve. then we have class on friday. Same schedule for the week of New Year's.

We had a progress check at the range today, 20rds at 15yards and 7yds just to check our proficiency. i had 19 in the "5" ring and one that wasnt for a score of 99 out off 100. Didnt mean anything to the instr. but it meant alot to me.

Congratulations to you! I just applied at DPD. I'm at the beginning stages though, so I have a while to go. Got any advice for me?

advice? hmmm...patience and honesty with your answers. Dont get discouraged if it feels like "THIS IS TAKING FOREVER", DPD has a very short background inspection time to be honest, some depts take a real long time. i took my physical at Jack Evans plus civil service test in June and was in class at the academy in Sept...Not bad. good luck and be thorough on your background investigation. if you think of anything that you didnt list on there make sure that you tell your investigator. The investigator that gets your package will tell you the same thing but beleive me they mean it.

Got fitted for our DPD uniforms at the Qtrmaster yesterday. Just over 4 months to go. Traffic all week coming up. Gonna be a very busy near future, with Red Man and PVOC and Taser/Baton/OC not to mention alot of testing incl TCLEOSE.
