Starting the Dallas Academy!

finished up our final cumulative skills assessment. No worries. me and my partner went 6 scenarios for 6. No redo's!

Graduation on this friday which is National Police Officers Day. Its been a long road since my first post back in Sept.

34 total weeks. I started the process back in June of 08. 30(ish) weeks of FT time. Pretty nervous/jacked up.

very good sir! I have to report to my substation (Southwest, AkA God's Country, or SUNNY South Dallas!) on Friday at 0830 for orientation then off to gradumicate! cuz I R a almost PO-lice!

I wish we had the manpower or the time to put in as much training with a new person as you do. Granted I think your FTO period seems excessively long but you can never go wrong with more training. Here our academy is 21 weeks which included a 4 week FTO mandatory BEFORE graduation. If you pass that you come back to my department where you ride with someone unitl you've done so for about 30 cumulative working days. At which point as long as you can handle yourself proficiently in most situations AND know when to ask for help you get cut loose.

Is 4 weeks of no news on a BG check with DPD a good sign? I keep hearing no news is good news from forum members and recruiters. I don't have much of a background and probably only one negative employment reference. Thanks for the info.

sorry i havent been on here in a while...No News is normally good news until they Never call back then....well, you get the picture.

Put in my first week riding solo. Man, much different/better than with a trainer or even a sr partner. God, this is a great job!

4 weeks is not unusual for no communication. Remember each background invesigator has quite a workload checking all the applicants. Just give it time.

I never saw thus post otherwise I woul have tried to target you in Rapid Rescue Training. Hutchins missed my crosshairs but his teammates didn't...lol.
