Your still going to have to disclose it and it may still cause you a problem. good on you for correcting it and getting over it but it still may be an issue.

It isn't a matter of " how long " . " who knows" , " I got it dismissed" , the charge was reduced" , " there is no record of it" etc because if it happened , there is a record of it somewhere. If asked during an interview or a background investigation..." did you ever ____________ ?" Then answer with the truth because if you lie , you will soon pay the price.

OBVIOUSLY Not disclosing it if I was asked about it would just be a BIG NO NO, and anyone who lies on a BI gets what they what they deserve. I have never been asked about it for any department I applied to. One PD did a full BI and I was ready to go to the academy and it never came up. Unfortunately for me they had budget cuts and the list expired and I never got hired. I was just wondering, If I'm not asked about it, AND it is not on my credit report any more, Will they find it any where???
They will. The fact that it was so long ago, and the fact that you've recovered from it, should mitigate it a great deal.

Just tell them about it. One that long ago and the establishment of good credit since will probably not have any effect on your hiring. If it's discovered and you haven't told them, you're toast. They do more than just check your credit report, they talk to a lot of people and if one mentions you had it, kiss your application good bye.

Whether the bankruptcy is on your report or not is irrelevant, it can not be taken into consideration for hiring purposes. Obviously if you are asked about ever having filed then you must answer the question correctly. The important part of the question is why you filed. Really that is kind of irrelevant also, because you have shown you have taken actions to not have to file again.
