    How far back for employment??

I read the great thread about obtaining employment information through the SSA.

I am in the process of requesting this information for the SSA and I was curious of how far back do New York or federal LE agencies request for your employment history??

I don't want to request the past 5 years, to then find out I should have request the last 10. The SSA website says this information takes about 4 months.

I tried to do a search but was unable to narrow the search down sufficiently to find the answer.

    The help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Federal agencies (assuming you are getting an actual security clearance) will go back 7 & 10 years for a secret and top secret clearance, respectively.

They changed it Switch, 10 years back on all of them now, but it's still 7 years on public trust positions that don't require a clearance. God forbid they make something easy like 10 years across the board for everything.

By the way, the next time you come up for your update they are changing the SF-86 form. It should be out in a few months and it's about twice as long.

I walked into my local IRS office, and 10 minutes later walked out with a 10 year history of my employment. They asked me how long I wanted to go back. They can go back as long as they need to. The social security office will take forever, go to the IRS office.

This is good info! Did you have to pay a fee?
