I tried to become a 911 operator back in 01, but failed the background check... I told them everything. I have an expunged misdemeanor, some experiemental drug use (like 5 times tops, mj). That's all I could think of that would cause any problem.
So now I have a bunch of free time and I thought it would be fun to volunteer down at the local police station, and I have to do a background check again. Great. So is it gonna be a big waste of everyone's time??
I dno't know if they're gonna pull up the application from the 911 job or not, or if it was so long ago that it won't matter. I wno't be officially a cop, but I guess since I would be in the office, it's probably around the same process.
I also wanted to volunteer for the mounted police unit at the local sheriff's station, but of course, another background check. Does this stuff not count after a certain time or anything like that?? I think the misdemeanor is at least 10 years old.
Any thought or advice is appreciated.
