I have a couple of tickets...

I am 35 years old. When I was around 23 I received a wreckless driving ticket. Plead guilty and paid a $500 fine. I believe the wreckless is a class B misdemeanor here in Arkansas. 3 months later I got stopped for doing 100 MPH on the freeway and got charged with wreckless driving. I plead not guilty and received a court date. At that time I somehow thought I could argue the case that I was speeding. I go to court and the officer does not appear. The wreckless is reduced to speeding and I pay a $150 or so dollar fine. I was immature and a bit of a hotrod at that time and yes these incidents were stupid. Since then I have been straight as an arrow and drive in a good safe manner. No hurry to get anywhere. Knock on wood, I would like to add that I have never been involved in any type of automobile accident.

I have only worked 2 different jobs in my lifetime and only have about 30 hours of college credit. From what I have read on this forum it looks like I would be pretty far down the list of being picked at any given agency. Given the preference for military experience and college degrees.

Currently I am considering enlisting in the army and will try to take any and all classes that I can. Of course that may not happen if a person ends up in a war zone. I am initially leaning towards MP, but I have not fully researched everything out. I have read some of the pros and cons of being an MP and different police agencies attitude towards them.

    What do you guys think??

I mean, we're getting killed for these people and they don't even appreciate it. They think it's a big joke.

Look at the requirements set by the agencies of interest to you. Meet them and apply.

The National Guard or REserves MIGHT take you but I think you may even be too old for them.

I alomst joined the marines outta HS. Wish I did while I was young.

Army will take a person up to 42 years old. That is the only branch of service that I could join. It is somewhat frustrating trying to wade through all the information and details. I did talk to a Army recruiter Friday. He just didn't sound right on a couple of small things. I also read a few cases about the officials at MEPS not being totally honest with what jobs are available and when drawing up contracts. I just don't like the whole used car salesman routine. The only thing I know is to get everything in writing.

you can join active navy at 35 years old, reserve up to 39. not sure about AF, i think the Marines have a 35 y/o age limit, but not sure. Dont get the mind set that the Army is your only option.

Army and Marines to age 41 I believe. Navy to age 38. I have no idea about the Air Farce. ;)

I was thinking about enlisting fulltime. Yes, I did see where some of the reserves allowed a person to join at a higher age limits. It seems like the more I read, the more I find out that MP stands for multi-purpose and less like military police.
