It's a violation of federal and most state laws not to register. Five years in prison if I recall correctly. I doubt anyone has been prosecuted for it lately but it still would be a red flag in your background. You can't hold a federal job either.

Aren't supposed to be able to get federal student aid/grants/assistance either from what I remember about it.

Same thing here, I kept getting the nasty grams addressed to me, complete with my military rank (which was Corporal at the time), sent to my command address at Marine Corps Air Station El Toro!

    Go figure.....

It could definitely pose a problem. I have saw several applications for government jobs which ask if you registered for the Selective Service, and as stated, I don't believe you will be able to get hired federally without having done that.

Lol, thats about as bad as joining the Coast Guard in 2006, and recieveing a bunch of calls/fliers from the Coast Guard telling you to join.

Wonder if I could have gotten another bonus? :D

That's nothing. After basic I went to visit my Army recruiter and the Navy recruiter tried to lure me out of the office.

You'd think the haircut would have been a clue.;)
Don't try and outweird me, I find weirder things than you in my breakfast burrito.

You can't get any federal aid without registering for the Selective Services. I did, I can't remember what I chose, I think I picked the ARMY, but I can't remember. They wouldn't take me anyways, my heart murmur is too big of a liability for them to assume, at least that is what every recruiter (Marines, ARMY, Air Force, Navy) told me, even though I played Football, Basketball, and Tennis while in High School (So this 'condition' didn't effect me physically).

It was last year, and I had to pick one of them, so I chose the Army. Actually come to think of it, it was the Army, for certain. I just didn't think anything of it, because I would be more than happy to serve my country no matter what branch they want to put me in, because I was going to do it before I went into college, but they wouldn't take me.

You just can't catch a break, can you? First you can't seem to manage to pass the polygraph, and now you forgot to register for selective service.

If I had to of picked I probably would have picked Navy or something...

I don't remember picking a 'branch' either. I had to and did register in 2002.
