    Regarding my age and weight

Hello again I have another question for the gang here. By the time I finish college and get my masters I am going to be somewhere between the age of 23 and 24 I believe. Is that considered too young by the NYPD to get hired? I know the policy is that once your 21 you pretty much good to go but would being 23 or 24 still be considered too young to be on the force? I'm sorry if something like this has been posted before. Also I'm like 5'6 or 5'7 maybe slightly taller but not that much. I have lost weight and I am down to 211 lbs. What would be a good weight for a guy with my height?

I don't think your age would be an issue as long as your maturity is not. FWIW, Iw as a federal 1811 (criminal investigator) when I was 24... the age of federal 1811s tend to be alittle older than most local departments.

Height and weight can be very subjective. I would say that it's more about how you carry it and being able to pass your fitness tests. I would think that 210 is a bit heavy... that's a weight I would expect to see more in individuals over 6'. I think 170 may be more the norm for someone your height. But, I would not sweat it so much if you can pass your fitness tests.

I'm 5'10, was 195-200 or so when I entered the academy, and was able to do the endurance (run) and the strength test. Couldn't do the situps at that time, but I was focusing on the run, as cardio is a much better way to lose weight/get in shape than situps. By the time I graduated I was 190, and passed everything for the youngest age group (I was 26, in the next highest).

Thanks for the info guys, I am still going to continue losing weight and get down to around 170 or 180 hopefully and I definitely gotta focus on my running as well. I know I have grown from my past mistakes and I hope that whoever will be interviewing me will see that I have grown as well.
