ps- any good tips for an oral board?

Tell the truth.
Arrive early.
Business attire.
Be yourself.
Eye contact
Confident body language.
Think every question through.
Answer "yes, sir" "no, sir" "yes, maam" "no, maam".
Don't assume you're going to know the questions ahead of time and sound like you've rehearsed them.
Be gracious for given the opportunity to interview with that dept.
Btw, congrats!

Well thank you for the advice, i truly do appreciate it. My dad's co-worker is the former deputy chief for the city, so he said he will call down there to talk with the person that will be interviewing me. I know this isn't a guaranteed in, but it will sure help, and I wont walk in there thinking I already have the job. Again, thank you for your advice!
I did forget to mention that beyond thinking each question through and telling the truth, don't try and tell them what you think they want to hear. If they ask a situational question and you tell them what you think they want to hear and you have no or a poor explanation why, it falls back into the rehearsed stage.
If you struggle to think on your feet in this situation, what happens when you hit the streets...
Just some friendly advice and good luck.
Know the basics, know your strenghts, weaknesses, why you wan to be a cop why you want to work there etc. Dont be afraid to take a few to sit and think about a response, dont take forever but take a breath compose yourself then answer.

Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

They are definitely going to ask you why you want to be a cop, why you want to work for that particular department, and why you think that you will be a good cop. Don't allude to anything that makes them think that you are interested in that department because they were the first to call!
Good luck and congratulations on getting that far.

congrats man, I am in my background investigation phase right now, which also happens to be the last step in the hiring process for the agency I am applying to, just curious how long did your investigation take? this waiting is killing me.
I feel your excitement. 2 weeks of nothing, then I get the call to do my: oral, poly, Chief interview, and psych next week. On the way out another letter informing me of yet another oral when i get back the following week.
lol @ Chewy.....that cracked me up!![]()
...let me stop you right there, sir. There's only two of us standing here and only one of us cares anything about what you have to say.
