From reading the posts on this forum, I found out that I should have a backup career planned in case a career in LE doesn't work out.
First, here is why I am afraid of being disqualified: Last summer, while working as a lifeguard, I suffered a patellar subluxation. Basically, something, either ligaments or tendons, tore and my knee rolled out of its socket. For this I spent six weeks in a knee brace. After, I went to a physical therapist, and she gave me some concerning information. She said that one of my legs was longer than the other, and my femur did not perfectly fit into the hip socket.
I also found out, because of this, I overpronate when I walk.
Does anyone know if this is a disqualifying condition? It sounds serious, but I'm not sure exactly how bad it is. I am able to participate in PT at cadets, including running 1.5+ miles. Also, I am able to work on my feet for up to eight hours (maximum shift allowed) pushing carts.
As far as the psych issues; the short (understatement of the century) version is I was "diagnosed" with Asperger's and OCD. Like I said, this is the understatement of the century as there were a whole bunch of issues related to if the diagnosis was correct, and surrounding the neccesitay of medication. (I will post further details if requested, omitted for space.) EDITED TO ADD: This happened in 6th and 7th grade. I have since recieved a letter stating that I "no longer meet the diagnostic criteria." That letter was recieved in 8th grade. The problems, I guess you would say had existed since preschool, just not formally diagonsed until middle school.
Now to my main question, I am in school for computer information systems in criminal justice. Assuming these conditions are disqualifying; what jobs in this field are open to civilians with little to no related experience (one semester internship)?
