    Do I have a shot???

I am 26 years old and I'm applying for the NYPD. I am currently going to school to get my AS in criminal justice. When I was 20 years old I got hit with a DWI, thank god That cleared up. I am taking the exam in October, I used coke and drink beers, but now I've been sober for 2 months.
If I stay sober from now until the drug test do I have a shot??? any advice

Last use of coke two months ago is way too recent to be hired. In AZ, you cannot have used in the past seven years.

Depending on how often you used coke, you may never qualify for employment. There is a definite amount of times a narcotic can be used to be deemed experimental use; anything over that means the applicant cannot be hired without a waiver which you are not likely to receive.

The question of staying sober until the drug test, for me at least, is offensive. It indicates you may have a dependency issue with either the beer or the coke (probably the coke since you stuck it with the drug test). If being sober is a problem, then you need to resolve it before continuing in the process. The last thing I would want is to be concerned the assisting officer is doped up or drunk when he backs me up.

    I hope you don't get a shot.

Nor would I offer you any advice.

    Perhaps you should change majors.

Sober for 2 months doesn't mean sober. It just means you havn't used for 2 months.

We need some YEARS of sobriety before you are even considered. Even then , you are walking in the door as damaged goods.
