General Under Honorable Discharge?

Hello everyone. I was in the Army National Guard for 5 years from 93-99. I got a General Disharge Under Honarable In 99. The condition on the Discharge form says "First time drug offenders PV1-SPC grades. This was a positive test for marijuana. I'm 32 now family and kids very stupid decision on my part and regret it every day. How will this affect my chances of LEO? Applied at several depts. I know not to make excuses and be honest of course. Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks.

Depends on the dept really, with us and every dept locally I can think of you would be an automatic DQ.

It will probably greatly affect (negatively) your chances of becoming a LEO. Using MJ while a kid because of immaturity and peer pressure is somewhat common, but to be discharged from the armed services for popping positive on a test - especially when 32 yoa (far from being a kid "experimenting) - shows a HUGE lack of maturity. I don't mean to rub salt in your wounds, but I do want to try to answer your question with the reality you're going to face. Even if this was the one and only time you tried MJ, the circumstances under which you chose to use it (i.e. being in the services, at your age, with family responsibilities) will be weighed, and may well disqualify you from any departments that don't have a policy of only hiring those with Honorable Discharges.

im suprised you got that good of a discharge out of it. normally thats an other than honorable discharge, or an administrative discharge with other than honorable conditions.
