Just got an e-mail from the HR for my city. Said that my chest x-rays all came back negative and I am clear for employment for the city! Now we just have to wait for the Sheriff's office to find out and tell me when the academy starts. Great day in the world of Shrubs, have a new career and my lungs are fine which is probably a bigger relief than the job. Careers come and go but health does not.

The agency I am in background for has a no smoking policy. I understand the health, insurance, and pension issues with being a smoker, but I really don't like being told that I can't do something that is perfectly legal. Smoking on the job is one thing, but on personal time is just bad policy IMO. That's like being told I can't have a beer when my shift is over.
Hope I'm not thread hacking. Congrats on making it to the academy sir!

They took xrays during the 4 hour medical check up I received. They xray your back and chest to make sure it looks ok and there are no problems, not for smoking. My original one came back a little spotty, and they thought I had a tear on my lung wall. They sent me to my PCP to make sure it was ok, and not something serious. Originally Posted by user79
