Disqualification problems with NYPD and NYCDOC

Two years ago i was disqualified by the NYPD for psych reasons, and in 2007 I opened a new case and invesetigation and I passed everything but the psyhc department decides to fuse my 06 psych with my 07 psych making me once again a disqualified candidate. this year i was like let me join the NYC department of corrections, passed everything. Well any way I passed all steps with the department of corrections however my interviewer wanted my nypd information to be released and that information will either let me be hired or dqed. Any way I was Dqed? If other departments find out about a previous disqualifications from different department in a local town city state or in another state, can that department disqualify you because you were disqualified by a different department?

Departments don't usually DQ you based on DQs from other departments. They will want to know why you were DQed. Most of the time a psych DQ is because you don't fit their psychological profile to "fit in" in the department.

You could test with another department and fit their psychological, so don't fret.

However, people get in trouble by not mentioning a DQ from another department. Don't find yourself in this boat.

why did you get dq'd just because of the fact that you failed from another department or did you not tell them about this and they found out?

Is it even possible to get hired by MTA Police without putting in time with another department like NYPD or PAPD?

I'm not speaking from experience, just what I've read here. I really don't know one way or the other, I'm just curious. ;)

Probably a better chance since the NYPD won't release records anyway.

Oh and the world might be over if you get turned down by corrections.

That's what I was thinking. Again, only based on what I've read from the NYPD guys.

I though it was almost impossible to be turned away by New York's Boldest.

i thought it was virtually impossible to be turned away from the boldest. But I got turned down by the boldest because the finest turned me down! I should call the bravest and try to open up my case for them but im afraid of being dqed by them if they ever find out i was previously dqed by two other city agencies!

lol if I was crazy I would have been locked up in rykers island or upstate or in a mental institution. Nah NYPD didnt really say why I was DQed, sadly NYPD never sent me a letter of disqualification and I was dqed twice. Sadly NYPD wants me to come back for the september proccesing but im not going to that either because i will be dqed for the third time. On the good side that I spoke to my DOC investigator and he spoke to the psych department at DOC and they are allowing to retake my MMPI for next week. Well im glad im getting a second chance.

I wouldn't worry about it. As was already said, the psych is not only to see if you have a mental problem, but to see if you fit the profile they want. My dept changed psychologists every several years and each time I could tell a difference in the people that were being hired. The psych I was hired under thought cops should be aggressive, fairly bright and not too nuts. I was an FTO in the late 70's when they changed and the new guys were much more laid back than my group. It's gone back and forth over the years.

I'm sure you'll find a dept where you'll fit just fine.

there been some calls to get rid of teh MMPI which is the standard of hiring law enforcment from local departments to federal. MMPI is from the 70s and that was a generation ago when America was fighting the culture war against the hippies. Any way some departments are dumping mmpi, I hope NYDP dumps the MMPI in favor of much more accurate Psych exam!

There's nothing wrong with the MMPI. It gives a pretty accurate description of personality. Don't blame it, people get hired as police all over this country based a lot on its findings.

Besides, any decent pysch is going to use more than that to determine your ability to do the job anyway. And it's the pysch, not the dept that decides what test is appropriate. Now you're starting to sound like sour grapes.
