The backgrounds can be tricky. It is what it is, you can't change it.
If you lie, you're done.
If you omit details, you're done.
If what you tell on one application doesn't match up to what you say on another application, you're done.
If you don't articulate something correctly, or the recruiter reads too much into something, you're done.
After passing everything with one service, I was dropped from the hiring-eligibility pool, because I applied to another service (when I applied I didn't know I had passed everything with the first P.D.), and they suspected I had a copy of the background questions…so that perhaps I could streamline my answers??
I was DQ'd at another service, because someone thought I might be trying to hide/omit something, despite already admitting to the worst things I've ever done (nothing major, and nothing that wasn't acceptable originally).
Now any future applications are going to be questioned, jeopardized, and scrutinized against what that recruiter believed happened at the 2nd P.D.
And the thing is, Police Services have more than enough applicants to sift through the ones that don’t pose this “questionable” issue; despite a wealth of experience and training.
…time and distance of the event can fix problems like speeding tickets and drug use. Can it fix problems like this??
