    lapd hiring process, ADD question

hello everyone, Im in the beginning stages of being hired onto lapd(hopefully) and i was hopping someone can give me advice. I have a mild case of A.D.D and was always told that its hard to become a police officer when having that. I take Vyvanse once a day to basically help me focus and what not, So i was wondering if anyone can help me answer my question about ADD in law enforcemen?

2ND question? i have my background interview on the 10th and was wondering if anyone had advice or anything that would help me out at all. thanks

    Jake

Medical Section will be the only people to give you an answer regarding your medical conditions. I suggest calling LAPD Recruiting and seeing if they have any advice for you. As for the Background, just be truthful on all questions asked. If you're found to be lying you will immediately be DQ'D.

I was placed on "medical review" by the NYPD after disclosing that I had ADD, though I have been off medication for nearly 10 years...

I had to submit some documentation and everything was cleared up.

I would only be concerned due to the fact you are still taking medication... how do you fair when you're drug free for the day???

As anyone here will tell you, be truthful, which includes NOT omitting requested information... whatever that may be.

    Good luck.
I am on a lot of lists...
There is no excuse for stupidity- except genetics.

If you still take medication for A.D.D, I think LAPD is going to put you on hold. I think you should STOP using it but, I don't know how you going to act when your not on medication. I understand how you feel bro, because when I was in H.S. they said I had a learning disability which is B.S. I don't take any medication and I hope I don't get disqualify for that reson. i'm trying to get in to the NYPD Police Academy in july. I'm done with all the hiring process. Keep your head up, good luck to you and myself.

Be sure to consult your doctor before you stop using your medication.
