    help getting hired

Hi. I would like to know what my *
*husband can do to set himself apart during the police testing *
*process to have a better chance of getting hired. He is 33 *
*years old, is starting to go back to college but does not have a *
*degree yet, he has had many jobs over the years and is not *
*outstandingly physically fit. He can pass the physical and *
*written tests but there are always those that are younger and *
*more qualified than him. What can he do to better his *
    *chances?

Not much really. It's a competitive test based on written, oral and physical agility (conditioning). The whole idea of civil service is to level the playing field for all so no one has a special advantage. It's not like many job hunts in the private sector where you can do things to make you stand out. Applicants are ranked in the order of their test scores. The only thing I would suggest would be the obvious, dress in a coat and tie for the oral exam and appear professional.

If he does well on the testing, has a good background (no bad credit, etc.) and meets the minimum requirements posted for the job, he shouldn't have any problem.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

You can tell him to read this: http://forums.realpolice.net/showthread.php?t=29514. Lots of good info there.

You're not going to be doing the testing and interviews for him, are you? :p
