    spirit of the background

since it seems like the last few threads were mainly about backgrounds...i would like to indulge in mine....I was wondering if i have any shot at all of eventually getting in LE...

i'm 29 years old, 6'2" 180 lbs. I feel i am in great shape, as i weight train ever other day (can bench currently 215 lbs), and run 3-4 miles (average of 7.5 min per mile) every other day as well to keep a balance. I have a bachelor's degree in business (management). I have been at my current job for 8 years, never called in sick, etc. I do not have any criminal record, nor have i ever taken any drugs in my life. I rarely drink maybe once or twice per year (new year's eve, 4th of July). Excellent credit history, never been late on bill or bounced a check (fico 798) I believe that's the positive.

the negative is driving record...my last ticket was 2 years ago for speeding, but i received 2 speeding tickets back in 2006...Year before that I received a no turn on red ticket, and year before that i received a ticket for U turn violation...my license was suspended once back in 2004 for roughly a month because proof of insurance wasn't with me which i later submitted and suspension was set aside. I was fired from my last job which was 8 years ago.

in regards to driving i understand that agencies look to see if i'm establishing a pattern when it comes to getting tickets, which is what i have done in the past from what u can see. I never contested, i accepted my responsibilities and paid all my tickets. So any input from the experts out there would be a great help. I have applied at several agencies in 2007, and simply put, at the time of those backgrounds, driving record was a problem but they were looking more time from my last ticket was needed... So is 2 years now enough at least at a minimum? Thanks for your time and input.

Your education will work in your advantage, however your traffic history will not.

Just put time in between the last ticket and when you start to apply to PDs.

Proof of Insurance suspensions are only administrative, atleast where I'm from, so IMO I wouldn't worry too much about that.

You just need more positives to counter the negatives. Everyone always suggests military service so unless that's no longer an option, I'd go for it.

Make sure you don't hang around the wrong people or find yourself in the wrong situations. Also, if you've ever done drugs beyond experimental usage of pot (once or twice), that's going to be a big issue.

    Best of luck.
