    Does my background seem ok?

    Well, hopefully in a few months or maybe a couple years, im hoping to sign up for the Honolulu Police Department or the Las Vegas Metropolitan Department. Just a couple of things im concerned about. Heres the good and the "maybe" bad:

    Good:
    No drug history
    No alcohol history (not even underage drinking)
    No criminal History
    No moving violations
    was in the Boy Scouts since i was 10 ( didnt make Eagle for academic reasons)
    Marching Band in High School
    2.5 years of retail sales experience

    The "maybe" bad:

    Within the last year, ive had 2 traffic accidents, both VERY minor and i admitted fault because it was, well, my fault.

    When i was 17 i was working at a car dealership as a lot attendant. I quit after 3 weeks. lets just say i did some minor damage on a vehicle. The manager called me in and was yelling, screaming, and swearing at me, saying deragatory things like "you suck as a driver" and "what the hell were you thinking". So, the next day, i turned in my resignation letter.

    all of my jobs besides the one mentioned above i have left on good terms, and the situation i mentioned about happened in 2006 when I was 17.

    Does the 2 situations i mentioned hinder my chances of getting in, or should i wait a year or 2?

    If I were a Chief the last thing I'd want is someone working for me that's only had alot of accidents, at-fault at that.

    Also, I don't see a mention of post-secondary education or even a high-school diploma mentioned in what you've listed. I only noticed you mention something about a negative academic record. :confused:

    I also see nothing about military service. College and/or military are your best options on the path for entering law enforcement.

    I dont have a negative academic record, i graduated High School and am currently in college working on my BA in Psychology.

    Did you resign because the manager yelled at you for poor driving (which you have a record of) and damaging one of his vehicles? I am not LE but prior military... based on my Basic Training experience, I'd say you need some thicker skin if you can't take a good screaming at. ;)

    Here is a perfect example that came to mind (taken from the Aurora, Colorado November 20, 2007 Civil Service Meeting notes on the auroragov.org website):

    "Brown stated that he was hoping that someone from the academy staff would have been present because he had heard that one person had already been lost from the academy. Brown stated that he heard that the person quit because the academy staff yelled at him. Kulbe stated that the candidate’s background showed that the candidate did not have the police mind set."
