Whatever you say Siberian, but the background checks are going to find the history, and then if he takes your advice and doesn't disclose it, he will be gone forsure. And I sure as hell hope that with your way of thinking, you never try to become a cop yourself.

It would be a complete waste of time to even fill out an app packet for any department. All those drugs are automatic disqualify. You sound more like a good snitch than a cop. Ive had some snitches who turn it around for a year or so and talk all that "im going to school and work thing" then they go back to the easy life of getting high and living like a substandard creature. I dont know you and dont want to know you. Im not saying you will go back to the life of misery you were living. I and many others have had to walk a straight and narrow line to be in the positions we are in. There is no prestige in being a police officer if your past mirrors the people you put in jail. Hell I want to be a Navy SEAL, that doesnt mean I have earned any right to even be looked at

    ...........

Yeah, that's right DC Law.......I need to come onto an online forum to "vent my frustrations". Give me a break. Unlike some of you, I have a life outside of sitting in front of the computer all day waiting for someone to call a "troll." Maybe I was just playing devil's advocate, but sometimes that can lead to interesting debates, if you can find someone with enough brains to carry on a conversation. It sounds like some of you(DC LAW,metallicat) have your own issues to deal with. :cranky:

We are not the ones insinuating the guy should try and hide his history, or look to a relative or a friend for an "in" to a police department.

What do you do for a living siberian, and are you planning to become a cop?

    kaneva,

I'm new to the website, but am appalled at how these "courteous public servants" have treated you.

I grew up in a crack-infested neighborhood and managed to steer clear of all that crap. I didn't quite make the 97th percentile, but I guess my informal smarts puts me leaps and bounds above you.

Education is just a foot in the door. It boils down to split-second decision-making ability, impulse control, and the ability to deny ones own need for satisfaction in the face of temptation (to wit: bribery), all of which you lack. If you haven't developed those skills by now, your education should provide you with a stepping stone to a real maningful position, like substance abuse counselor. Think of all the experience you have!

Oh I am sorry, next time we will treat useless members of society that use every drug possible and then want to be cops a little better. Maybe if he had used better judgements when he was young, he wouldn't be in this conundrum now. I have absolutely ZERO compassion or respect for people that use drugs to that degree.

Go and apply Siberian but make sure you have with you a list of ALL of the drugs you have abused and the crimes that you have committed so that you don't waste their time beginning to do a background check.

When applying to law school admissions looks at the difficulty level of your classes. Most people who take CJ classes get A's and B's. If you had a 3.6 in Physics I would be impressed. It is like the strength of schedule in the BCS college footballl ratings. Boise State and TCU have awesome records (11-1), but they didn't really play anyone. Take Calc I, II, II, Diff Equations, and Calc based Probability. If you come out with an A- avg then you are the man...

Perhaps you should look into a department in another country to build your resume.... like Columbia?

By the way maybe you should sell your up-start drug running business in Fla.
