The Background Investigation

The only potential problem i see for me in my pursuit to become a police officer is the credit check and work history check. Do they disqualify for those two things?

The reason i'm asking is my background is clean as far as arrests or breaking the law. i have traffic tickets but only two in the last 3 years. only tried pot one time when i was 17 and i'm 25 now. I was in the army reserves for 2 years and recieved a general under honorable discharge. My credit history i have some unpaid bills in collections currently that i'm working on getting paid off. total amount of all my bills is about $2,000 but not all in collections and my work history has a lot of lay offs and company shutdowns and i've left some jobs to take others trying to make more money. sorry its so long but i've always wanted to be a cop and would like to fix any potential problems now before i go out to apply to become an officer. You have a few bumps in the road. The job situation won't hurt you if you were laid off for plant shutdowns. You can explain that off. I'd get your credit fixed asap.

Why did you get the general under honorable and not honorable?
