I am curious if anyone knows a what point a background investigator will decide that they have enough information to complete their investigation. The reason I ask is because I went in for my background interview, photographing, and fingerprinting about 5 months ago. I have a few red flags that the investigator brought up at my interview that I thought would cause them to end the whole process right there.
I was arrested for underage possession of alcohol in college and also received at ticket for open container when I was walking from one party to the next.
I never received a rejection letter from the department but it is pretty large so I figured that they do not bother sending them out. Over the weekend I received a phone call from another officer that she was having trouble finding my old address and that see needed to interview some of my neighbors. I was at the gym at the time and when I called her back she had already found it and said my neighbors had all good things to say about me.
I took this as a good sign that they have weighed my good qualities (college degree and Officer in the US Army) versus my bad (see above) and decided to keep going.
Basically I am wondering if they are required to do the BI until completion or am I still being considered? I appreciate any feedback that anyone may have.
