    Tampa

I used to live in tampa and I am thinking of moving back there and applying with the PD. I've done a little research regarding that. Let me see if I understand this right.

You put yourself through one of the florida certification programs? then you apply? How long are the cert. programs, a semester?

I've seen posts that state some of the large agencies will pay your way if you have a bachelor's and military exp. Is that true?

    Any info will be appreciated.

It's a 760 hour academy, which lasts about 5-6 months depending on when the academy starts. It follows the same academic calander as other community college programs, which means that things like getting off for spring and winter break can extend the time you're in the academy.

Hillsborough SO still sponsors, although they've cut the number of classes that they have. St. Pete also sponsors, however trust me when I say that you don't want to work for them under any circumstances. They're the only agencies around that sponsor anymore.

HCSO isn't a bad place, but their salaries are quite a bit less than those at Tampa. Starting pay is comparable, however a topped out deputies and supervisors make substantially less than their counterparts at TPD.
