    A new applicant with a little question(s)

Hey all. I just recently completed my packet for employment and I'm actually going down tomorrow to turn it in-in person. I'm just curious as to what my chances are in actually getting hired. I've applied for Communications Officer, also known as dispatching. I don't have very much experience. At all, really. I'm only nineteen. I've had one job. Never had a traffic ticket- never tried drugs or alcohol. Basically I've never really done anything. My brother is a sheriff deputy in another county, one other brother is a firefighter chief and another is a paramedic. I have decent references. I was actually considering putting down the sheriff of the county I'm applying to- considering he's my boyfriend's dad. But I want to do this on my own. I actually have a lot of life experience, believe it or not. So I'm just curious what my chances are. I didn't feel comfortable asking the background investigator when I went to my orientation last week so I decided to look online and this seems completely suitable. I would really appreciate some feedback! =)

If your good with computer related tasks, can take a phone call and get pertainant information to make a dispatch record or ticket and give relevant info to the responder then your probably qualified. Other then that, unless you've previously been a dispatcher its hard to say how well you will do.

I'm not so much worried about the multi-tasking part. I KNOW I can do that. I've already taken a test that involved that- the Criti-CALL. I know it's not even close. But..they required a 40WPM and I passed with 102. But if they don't hire me, I'll never get to show that I am able to perform those tasks. That's what I'm afraid of. I put off my college semester for this.
