Another Rejection

At least this time they called to tell me the news. I thought I was doing well in the process, getting through the background investigation. The detective told me that I was not disqualified, but rather there was just a good group of applicants and I fell short. He told me I could apply again in June. It is demoralizing to get rejected again (twice), but at least I know that my background is OK. I guess I need to work on improving my scores a little bit and apply again. Hopefully that will show the department that I am serious.

haha his location central AZ...i highly doubt he got declined by NYPD...not many people do these days

As odd as it sounds rejection can be a positive even though it seems negative. First of all this field is very competitive and most of us have been rejected once if not multiple times before being hired. To continue to try to imrprove yourself and re-applying after setbacks shows how badly you want this job and how hard your willing to work to get it. Keep your chin up and keep trying.

I second that....I've been rejected 4 times so far, and yes it can be demoralizing..but on the other hand like he said, if you really want it that bad you don't give up, and that's what I haven't done yet is give up....So right now, I'm in the midst of believe it or not 5 other PDs as we speak all approaching backgrounds for each, hopefully I can stick to one of them, but we'll see. As much as I want to express confidence that I will get in, I'm more on the cautious side. All I can do is wait. All in all, perseverance is what it's about is my point.
