who conducts the BI?

hello,

just to clarify a few things, who in the police deapartments actually conducts the backgorund investigation? Also if anyhitng comes up in the interview with the BI that is potentially threatening to being hired but not a DQ will that end the BI or will they proceed to continue the process anyway until its finished?

if your department is well funded then Asimo conducts the background interview... otherwise just a loley detective... or a civilian in bigger places.

and if the issue is NOT disqualifying why would they end the interview right there...???

Usually, if something comes up that is not an automatic DQ the BI will continue. Whatever it is will be examined and compared to other candidates as well as department standards. Basically, if there are some things in your background that are not positive they may not be that big of a deal, but if there is another candidate without those issues they will be hired first.

The BI at my department was the Sgt., but it is a small(er) department!!!

We used to pass the applications around to all the detectives, nowadays they use dept retirees working in a civvie slot. ;)

Our Dets do the BI stuff.

And they DO find out about peoples past that people lied about.
