    I failed My Psych!!!

Well i passed everything up until my psych test. I still dont understand why! But It was Broward Sheriffs Office. Im highly dissapointed in myself and feel like i let alot of people in my family down. I was wondewring if its good to go on applying spree so to speak and to apply to alot of agencies. I've been depressed and thats all i can think of doing.

So sorry to hear about your news but if you honestly think you should have not been DQ then for sure try to apply else where. A dream is a dream only until it becomes a reality right?

Definitely try other places, I've heard numerous times not to put all your eggs in one basket. Not passing in one can ending up passing in another....If you want it, you don't give up, never say die!!

Don't take it too hard, it doesn't mean you're nutty, it just means you didn't fit that agencies profile.

Well, at least most of the time it means you're not nutty.

Don't worry about it!! 99% of the people giving those tests are nutty themselves. Apply everywhere and take every test you can. I failed a psych and then got hired with another agency making almost double what the other agency pays. And to top it off I've received 2 calls since from the department whose psych I failed requesting me to come back for interviews (like I said, most of these people are all screwed up). Point of the story is this: don't get down on yourself (there is nothing wrong with you), it could very well be a blessing in disguise.

Just wondering if you fail a psych. for one department would it be a big red flag for the next?

Hmmm I'd hope not. I'm applying everywhere. I was also wondering if its normal for the psychologist who is interview you to yell at you and talk down on you. When i took the test i dint get mad or upset he just looked like an idiot and i just answered all his questions with a straight face. Should i have gotten upset???? Or showed emotion??

Other than perhaps wearing a business suit and being polite, not sure what you mean by "ettiquet to follow" for the psych eval.

For what it is worth, back in the day I too failed the psych for BSO. I know what it feels like. Don't let it hold you back, continue to apply elsewhere.

I tested with other police officers who ALSO FAILED the BSO psych, yet they were still cops with other agencies. It really does appear that the psych partially gauges your personality as it relates to the hiring agency and its requirements.
