Lol, a troll?! That's funny. Everybody knows trolls can't spell.

Now... the most important thing to realize here is that I can get my record expunged. I can't afford the legal fees, but I am able to get my record expunged. If I did that, would it make a difference?

And for those of you that are talking about my "pattern" of crime, I was treated like **** at the hands of the government for nine years in foster care, I did everything in my power to get away. I @#$%^& up a lot, and I'm not proud of it. I've decided that I want to do something with my life and make a difference. Those of you that disrespected me and judged me because of what I've done, I really don't appreciate that. A man's past doesn't always dictate his worth. I'm not giving up my dream. If you have some really useful advice, please give it. But don't give me that "**** you, dirty criminal" crap.

Ok I've read enough posts on here to know that no one on here was trying to disrespect you, they were being honest on your chances of becoming a police officer and the reasons why not. They didn't make the rules. It sounds like you just don't like the answers.

    A man's past doesn't always dictate his worth.[QUOTE]

Perhaps not, but it is typically the best indication of the type of person he is or will be.

Regarding your convictions: how many, if any, of your convictions were as an adult? You claim the last action was at age 16, but that does not indicate if it was a juvenile conviction or not. A hiring committee will look at the severity and number of crimes as well as when they occurred.

However, a felony conviction as an adult will knock you out of the running as previously stated. You cannot possess a firearm as a felon. the fact that you have convictions for assault will be a big hamper; it indicates you have an issue controlling your temper and would be a liability for the department.

You have admitted to wasting your high school years doing drugs. Depending on the type and number of uses, you may have knocked yourself out with that as well. Most departments restrict the number of times you may 'experiment' with certain drugs and dq automatically for others.

You claim to have made a damn good effort to turn your life around. You haven't turned your life around, you have started to do so. It has only been three years since your last criminal activity. This counts, in my book anyway, as a start and not a completed journey.

Regarding your educational goals. I recommend you get your degree in computers. If you do not make it into law enforcement you will have something useful to fall back on. If you do, you will have something the department may find useful for investigations, etc.

Claiming to have acted out because you were treated poorly at the hands of the government smacks of whining and failing to accept responsibilty for your own actions. You can not have been the only who was treated in the manner you were and, certainly, not all of them turned to criminal actions.

I have answered your relevant questions. What you think of my responses is immaterial. I have the badge, creds and weapon you want to have and having you tell me I hurt your feelings won't affect that in the least.

A degree in CJ won't get you hired at a PD any faster regardless of your past... as we've debated here before... (hint to use the "search" function).

As for your future, you won't get very far in life until you take responsibility for your own actions... well, at least as a respectable, contributing adult...

...and I could care less if you like my answer, either.

The thing with getting your record expunged (even if you can get BOTH felonies expunged) is that it wont matter. Police can still see your records, so having them expunged means nothing at all.

Also, just some advice. Dont let these guys get to you like they seem to be. Just shrug it off. You can still make a decent living with your record, just not as an officer.

Good luck. Also, stay out of trouble.

Well, pretty much the only real useful information I've gotten from this is that many of my future coworkers will be !@#$%^. I'm still not giving up. Cheers to all of you that are actually cops, way to go. Perhaps I'll be seeing you in a few years.

Edit: Regarding Sierra's post (Mr. I'm a Hardass because I'm a cop and you will never be), all of my convictions were juvenile ones. I wasn't convicted as an adult for any of them. And you know... I'm glad you're a cop, you seem to be real proud of it. But you strike me as the type that abuses authority and lets the power go straight to your head. So congratulations, have fun with that.

You can still be a productive member of societ and good for you for wanting to straighten things outs. You will not be a police officer so good luck in your search for an equally rewarding career.

here's my 2 cents, not that it might not mean anything but here goes. Basically it is definitely a tough process. I'm not an LEO, but have been trying to pursue doing so for almost 2 years now. I don't have the type of background you have. I have never done drugs, no criminal record, been fired once 8 years ago, but now at my current job for 8 yrs. I have a bachelor's degree in business management, but the drawback is my driving record. I had 2 speeding tickets almost 2 years ago, and I've been screened out of the process because of that by 3 different agencies. If they are that tough with me, I cannot say that they cannot be any leaner with you. But like you, I haven't given up, and I still continue currently testing, sending apps, going through the process, backgrounds, etc, because for me, this has become a dream of what I want to do, and the biggest thing is hope. I hope I can get in, and hopefully one day I will.

You will never be a police officer. It's just that simple. Committing the acts as a juvenile does not matter given the seriousness of the offenses. Expunsion, by the way, will not affect you at all in this. BI's will still have access to all of those records and they will permanently DQ you. It's not often that I say this, but absolutely NO agency is going to hire you. Period.

I didn't intend that to be rude or insulting. Just a hard truth and answer to your OP.

I don't want you watching my 6. I would take any officer here to have my back as these guys know how to get the job done. Your posts here have shown disrespect for police officers and I think your time here is limited. You need to remember, you were convicted of a felony, which means you can't have a firearm.

DON'T come in here and insault verifieds/ senior members. You need to earn your place. These guys gave you an answer and you didn't like it (you were butt hurt), to bad that is the way it is. We don't like "sissys" in this profession. If you can't take someone telling you, you can't do something, stay out of this profession, because you won't last long. SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR OFFICERS, espically since you WISH you could be one.
